The New Way to Buy Your Tickets is Coming!

Over the summer, you may have seen new ticket machines being installed across the network. Later this autumn, customers will be able to use these machines to buy tram tickets and top up their Swift cards.

Convenience 24/7

Once live, Metro ticket machines will be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Whether you’re catching an early morning tram or travelling late at night, our machines are available.

 

Quick and Easy Transactions

The machines will be quick and easy to use, making buying a ticket or topping up a Swift card over in a few seconds. Simply select your journey, choose your ticket, and make your payment. The user-friendly interface ensures that even first-time travellers can navigate the process smoothly.

 

Contactless Payment

All our ticket machines are equipped to accept the following payment options.

  • Cash

  • Contactless debit/credit cards

  • Mobile payment options like Apple Pay and Google Pay

 

Multiple Ticket Options

Our machines will offer a wide range of ticket types, including:

– Zonal single and return tickets

– Weekly and monthly passes

 

Top-Up Your Swift Card

You can top up your Swift card directly at any of our ticket machines. This means you now have more locations to top-up your card for travel when you need to.

Where to find Metro Ticket Machines

Every tram stop in the Metro network is equipped with at least one ticket machine, conveniently located at the entrances on one of the platforms.

Here are some frequently asked questions providing additional information about the introduction of ticket machines at Metro stops. We will update these as the programme  progresses.

Ticket machines will provide you with a new way to buy your ticket for your tram journey. In addition, you will be able to buy and top-up your Swift card using the machines.

Ticket machines will be installed across the network throughout the summer. We anticipate that they will be available for customers to use in the Autumn. Details regarding the progress of the works will be published on our website, along with dates for the ticket machines to go live closer to the time.

There will be at least one ticket machine installed at each tram stop.

You will be able to buy single and day tickets for tram and bus + Metro travel, as well as adult season tickets on a Swift card.

Yes, you will be able to top up your Swift pay as you go card using the ticket machines once they are available.

You can purchase your tram tickets from the My Metro App, which is available on Android and iOS and can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play. The My Metro app allows you to buy a selection of Metro only and bus+Metro tickets, for both adult and child travellers. These range from day tickets to weekly and monthly season tickets, with our 3-day, 4-day and flex & save tickets exclusively available on the app. Find out more about the MyMetro App here.
