Metro renews partnership to strike a chord with music fans.

We’re pleased to announce that the partnership between West Midlands Metro and one of the region’s leading cultural institutions, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) continues to resonate positively with tram customers and music enthusiasts alike.

Last year, an eye-catching tram was unveiled to kick-start the partnership, announcing West Midlands Metro as the CBSO’s official travel partner.

Plans are in motion to reinforce the partnership for the next 12 months and extend support for community programmes and audience travel. These plans align seamlessly with the orchestra’s newly announced 24-25 Season of Joy.

One of the benefits of the renewed partnership will see ticket holders receive a 20% discount on tram travel, enabling music lovers to opt for the green travel option and enjoy savings while commuting to concerts.

Michael Reading Skilton, Metro’s Head of Commercial, explained: “The tram provides the ideal way for concert goers and musicians to reach venues across the city that host performances by the 90-strong orchestra and its associated choirs and youth ensembles.

“Concertgoers can take advantage of our 700 free spaces at our park and ride facilities before enjoying swift and convenient travel thanks to the improved tram timetable with services from every eight minutes.

“What’s more, with stops just outside, or within a few minutes’ walk of Birmingham’s Symphony Hall, Town Hall and the CBSO Centre, the Metro offers the ideal way to access one of the region’s most treasured cultural organisations.”

Beki Smith, Director of Marketing & Communications at the CBSO commented: “We are truly thrilled to be continuing our partnership with West Midlands Metro for another year. Not only has our bright-yellow wrapped tram brought moments of joy (and plenty of photo opportunities) for the people who spot it around the city, but we’ve also been able to encourage our audience members to travel in and around the city in greener ways.”
