Ticket machines provide you with another way to buy your ticket for the tram. In addition, you can also buy weekly and monthly passes and top-up your Swift card using the machines. Ticket machines is part of a wider plan which will see customers buy their tickets before they board the tram in the future.
We now operate Buy Before You Board — you can no longer purchase a ticket on board the tram.
You must now buy your ticket from the Ticket Machines or the MyMetro app before you board.
There is at least two ticket machines located at each tram stop. You can view our network and stop locations here.
You can buy single Metro only tickets, day tickets for tram, bus + Metro and nnetwork (bus, tram and train) travel, as well as adult season tickets on a Swift card.
Yes, you can top up your Swift Pay As You Go card using any of the ticket machines at the tram stop.
Yes. You can pay for your ticket using cash (coins and notes, except for £50 notes). You can also pay using your debit or credit card, contactless, Apple Pay or Google Pay and Swift Go and Swift Pay As You Go.
You can buy your tram tickets on the MyMetro app, available on iOS and Android from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
The app offers a range of Metro‑only and bus+Metro tickets for both adults and children, including a selection of exclusive app‑only tickets. Find out more here.
