Two vibrant and engaging characters are about to play a leading role in a lively new campaign highlighting the new ways to pay for travel on the West Midlands’ growing tram network.
Wes and Mindy are set to become familiar faces across the network as West Midlands Metro prepares for the switch on of new ticket machines later in the autumn.
Beyond the launch of the new Metro ticket machines, these colourful puppets will become stars of the Metro’s social media channels, helping to promote the benefits of tram travel and keeping customers updated ahead of the new routes set to launch next year.
Michael Reading-Skilton, Head of Commercial of West Midlands Metro, explained; “As we approach another milestone in the evolution of our network, we’re excited to introduce Wes and Mindy as the newest members of the Metro team. Their names are a playful nod to the region we serve, and their look reflects the vibrant communities across the region.”
“Together they’ll help customers to familiarise themselves with the new and convenient way to buy their tickets to travel on the tram and the importance of buying a ticket before they board, while showcasing the convenience and accessibility of our services.”
Wes has a curious and energetic spirit, with a passion for travel and a constant eagerness to explore the network. He’s always ready for the next adventure! Mindy, meanwhile, is a creative and thoughtful character who enjoys expressing herself through various forms of art – bringing a unique artistic perspective to every journey.
“These two engaging characters really do reflect the diversity, creativity, vibrancy, and spirit found in the West Midlands region. Michael added, “We’re sure they’ll bring a smile to the faces of our customers as they help introduce this exciting new era for the Metro.”
The new ticket machines, which also offer customers the option to top up their Swift travel cards, were installed across the network over the summer. They are currently undergoing testing and commissioning before they can be used by customers and before their official launch.
