Judging is underway to find an eye-catching emblem to help West Midlands Metro celebrate a landmark anniversary.

Metro invited youngsters from across the region to show off their artistic talents as the network approaches its 25th birthday on May 30, and the response has been fantastic, says Sophie Allison, Metro’s Managing Director.

“As of Monday (April 29), when the competition ended, we received more than 100 entries, making the selection of an overall winner challenging,” she elaborated. “The quality of submissions has been superb, and good luck to all participants and the schools they represent.”

The winner, set to be announced next week, will see their design displayed on the side of trams and Metro merchandise. In addition, they along with a few classmates and a teacher, will enjoy an exclusive VIP behind-the-scenes tour of the Metro depot in Wednesbury. Furthermore, the winner’s school will be awarded a £500 cheque.

Sophie added, “It’s been almost a quarter of a century since trams returned to the streets of Birmingham and Wolverhampton. and we’re delighted that this competition has caught the imagination of youngsters in the West Midlands as they have a vital role to play in our success over the next 25 years!”
