As Birmingham prepares for a weekend of events celebrating the city’s LGBTQ+ community, West Midlands Metro has announced its support for Pride 2024.
Anyone with tickets for Pride this month can enjoy a discount of 20 per cent on tram travel with its swift and convenient travel to venues in the city centre.
The discount applies to a Zone 1–4-day ticket, all day, on both May 25th and 26th, when thousands will flock into the city centre to catch performances by acclaimed artists such as Beverley Knight, Jamelia, Heather Small, Loreen and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
Michael Reading-Skilton, West Midlands Metro Head of Commercial, commented: “With such an impressive line-up this year, Pride weekend looks set to attract more attendees than ever before.”
“As a result, roads around the city centre will be extremely busy, with parking at a premium, but, thanks to the Metro, getting to the heart of the action needn’t be an expensive hassle.
“With over 700 free spaces at our park and ride sites, services every eight minutes with trams running until late, everyone can enjoy stress-free travel to Pride including the ever-popular parade.”
To take advantage of the discount, all Pride ticketholders need to do is download the My Metro app if they don’t already have it from the iOS or Android app store and scan the QR code on the email they’ll receive over the next few days.
“This offer highlights our support for events happening in the Midlands, including those celebrating the LGBTQ+ community, which comprises members of the Metro team as well as many of our customers,” Michael added.
