Stunning illuminated artworks are set to transform Birmingham city centre later this month, and visitors can count on West Midlands Metro to help them explore the spectacular display with sustainable, convenient tram travel.
As a proud sponsor of Birmingham Light Festival 2026, Metro will offer up to 15% off Zone 1-4 and Zone 1-day tickets throughout the event, helping families and festivalgoers enjoy the experience for less during the February half term.
Michael Reading‑Skilton, Metro’s Head of Commercial, said: “We’re delighted to support this spectacular display and encourage people to travel sustainably as they explore the city. When the lights switch on, our trams provide a quick and accessible way to move between locations and enjoy everything the festival has to offer over the school break.”
The festival will run from 12-15 February, illuminating the city from 6 pm to 10 pm each evening with installations and unique events created by both local and internationally renowned artists.
Now in its second year, organisers hope to build on the success of the 2025 festival, which attracted more than 64,000 visits from across the region and beyond. This year’s locations include Bullring, Victoria Square, St. Paul’s Churchyard, Brindleyplace and Edgbaston Village.
With the event taking place during half term, families can also combine the festival with daytime attractions along the Metro route, including SEA LIFE Birmingham, LEGOLAND Discovery Centre, Thinktank Science Museum, Birmingham Hippodrome and Wolverhampton Art Gallery, all within easy reach of tram stops.
Further information about the festival, including a full list of locations and events, can be found on the Birmingham Light Festival website. Details of the Metro travel offer, covering Zone 1-4 and Zone 1 tickets, can also be found on the festival page.
