West Midlands Metro will honour the courage and sacrifice of the nation’s servicemen and women this Remembrance weekend with a heartfelt tribute and a gesture of gratitude.
At 11:00 a.m. on Sunday 9 November and Tuesday 11 November, all Metro tram services will pause for a two-minute silence to mark Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday. Trams will come to a safe stop, giving passengers and Metro colleagues a moment to reflect on the bravery and dedication of those who served in the two world wars and more recent conflicts.
Sophie Allison, Managing Director of West Midlands Metro, shared: “All trams will come to a safe stop at 11:00 am, enabling colleagues, passengers and customers to join us in paying tribute to all who made the ultimate sacrifice.”
To show appreciation Metro will be offering free tram travel throughout the weekend to veterans, cadets in uniform, serving army, navy, and air force personnel.
Eligible individuals simply need to wear their uniform, display medals, or show a valid service photo ID.
“We can never forget the sacrifices made by the brave men and women in the forces. Offering free travel is the least we can do to express our gratitude for all they’ve done to keep us safe,” Sophie added.
West Midlands Metro invites all passengers to join in this moment of national remembrance and honour those who have served with courage and distinction.
