Changes to Service During July and August 2026

There will be some changes to service during July and August, while essential maintenance work is undertaken on the Bilston Road and overhead line equipment is upgraded across the network.

 

Bilston Road Works

 

From Monday 20 July until Tuesday 28 July from 20:00 each evening

 

There will be no tram services between Priestfield and Wolverhampton Station / St George’s from 20:00 while road surface repairs are carried out.

 

  • Trams will operate to all stops from the start of service until 20:00*
  • From 20:00 trams will operate between Priestfield and Edgbaston Village via Millennium Point only.

*Last tram times of these days:  

– Wolverhampton Station to Edgbaston Village will depart at 20:00

– Wolverhampton St George’s to Edgbaston Village via Millennium Point will depart at 19:54

 

During this time, Metro tickets and passes will be accepted on National Express bus service 79 between Wolverhampton and West Bromwich.

 

Overhead Line Upgrades – Sunday Mornings

 

From the start of service until 13:00, there will be the following changes to Sunday service, while upgrades to our overhead lines are completed:

 

Sunday 19 July and Sunday 2 August:

  • Trams will operate between Wolverhampton Station / Wolverhampton St George’s and West Bromwich Central only.
  • There will be no services between West Bromwich Central and Millennium Point / Edgbaston Village until 13:00.

 

Sunday 9 August:

  • Trams will operate between Wednesbury Parkway and Edgbaston Village via Millennium Point only.
  • There will be no services between Wolverhampton Station / Wolverhampton St George’s and Wednesbury Parkway until 13:00.

 

Sunday 23 August:

  • Trams will operate between Wolverhampton Station / Wolverhampton St George’s and Wednesbury Great Western Street only.
  • There will be no services between Wednesbury Great Western Street and Millennium Point / Edgbaston Village until 13:00

 

While this work is taking place, we are committed to keeping our customers moving. Ticket acceptance will be available on the following alternative transport options:

 

  • National Express bus services:
    • 79 between Wednesbury and West Bromwich (9 and 23 August)
    • 74 between West Bromwich and Birmingham City Centre (19 July, 2 and 23 August)
    • All services between Colmore Row and Edgbaston Village (19 July, 2 and 23 August)

 

  • West Midlands Railway train services between Wolverhampton and Birmingham, including Five Ways (Direct Debit or pass holders only).
