Richard Brooks joins the board of Midland Metro Limited as a Non-Executive Director.

Tram operator Midland Metro Limited (MML) has announced the appointment of a new Non-Executive Director as it prepares for future network expansion.

With over 40 years’ experience in the rail industry, Richard Brooks joins the MML board as the business gears up for the launch of services to Dudley next year.

A former Customer Experience Director at West Midlands Trains, and previously a Commercial Director at London Midland, more recently he has served as a Non-Executive Director and Trustee of Stour Vale Academy Trust.

In welcoming Richard to the board, Phil Hewitt, MML Chair, commented: “As lead Executive Director for the West Midlands Railway business unit at West Midlands Trains, he played a lead role in enhancing the customer experience across 122 stations and on over 800 train services a day.

“His extensive experience in strategy development, communications and stakeholder management will prove invaluable as we look forward to helping even more people discover the many benefits of travelling by tram as the system grows.”

MML is a wholly owned subsidiary of the West Midlands Combined Authority, and Richard said he shares its vision of an even more connected region with light rail at the heart of an integrated transport network.

“I feel honoured to serve on the board, particularly at such an exciting time for the Metro,” Richard said.

“I’m really looking forward to helping the network play an even greater role in the future social and economic prosperity of the region,” he added.
