West Midlands Metro marked International Women’s Day today, March 9, with an inspiring event celebrating this year’s theme, #GiveToGain, and recognising the invaluable contributions of women across the organisation.
Focussing on empowering women through wellbeing, confidence building, shared learning, and skills development, the event brought together colleagues from across the business for a day of connection and personal development.
Sophie Allison, Metro Managing Director, explained: “I’d like to thank Mo Harford-Bury, a Neurodiversity speaker from Momentum, Kate Gerald from KAG Training Consultancy, and Sophia Baker from Midlands Air Ambulance, our charity of the year, for their motivational words during a day that celebrates the huge contributions made by the female members of our team.
“This year, we also set up a ‘Give to Gain Corner’ in our Wednesbury depot, where female colleagues can write what they hope to gain or achieve over the coming year. Our commitment to supporting women within our organisation and promoting career opportunities for women within the light rail sector continues throughout the year.”
Metro’s participation in International Women’s Day aligns closely with its core values and ongoing support for the diverse communities it serves, including local charities and partner organisations.
