West Midlands Metro is proud to hold the Safer Tram Stop Award for 31 of our 33 stops. This prestigious recognition is awarded by Secured by Design, an official Police security initiative dedicated to ensuring safety in light rail systems throughout the United Kingdom.
To achieve the accreditation, each stop is assessed and required to fulfil a criteria which is defined as vital by the scheme in order to ensure public safety. This includes surveillance, signage, lighting and passenger surveys.
The accreditation is reviewed every 2 years to ensure that the stringent safety and security measures that West Midlands Metro have in place across the network continue to support us in delivering a safe and secure, reliable and sustainable service for the many people that rely upon us every day.
