A two-minute silence is to be observed across the West Midlands Metro on Sunday, with all services pausing at the nearest tram stop at 11.00am.

As the country marks the 100th anniversary of the Armistice that ended the Great War, tram customers and staff will have the opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by the nation’s brave servicemen and women.

Carl Williams, West Midlands Metro Director of Operations, commented: “To show our appreciation of the dedication and bravery shown by members of the armed services, past and present, on Sunday we’re also offering free travel for veterans and serving Army, Navy and Air Force personnel.

Just as the nation remembers, we’ll never forget the sacrifices made in the Great War and more recent conflicts and hope our customers will join us in paying tribute to them.”

On Remembrance Sunday, former and serving members of the forces only need to show valid ID to qualify for free travel on the tram.
